Hoax Hunters #10, by Moreci, Seeley & Jones

Jack Lawson, Ken Cadaver, and Regan Tate are three reality television show hosts who go out into the world disproving various myths, hoaxes, and legends. We assume that things like Bigfoot, UFOs, and other unexplainable anomalies are all fake, but that is only because Jack, Ken, and Regan work diligently to keep them covered up.

For those who have not been reading up until now, like myself, Michael Moreci and Steve Seeley have made it really easy to get caught up. A free digital issue is available called, "The Story Thus Far" that summarizes the first nine issues and includes nice little character bios that are an interesting read for both old and new readers. The series is also really hot right now, having just been optioned for a movie.

Our team starts by discovering that cryptids, creatures whose existence has been suggested but is not recognized by scientific consensus, begin appearing in dense patterns. Regan, a former child star who was possessed by a demon while filming a movie, joins Donovan, the Hoax Hunters’ producer, to confront a powerful demon in South America. Tensions build within the team as they do not believe splitting up is a wise decision; they were not wrong.

Issue #10 is the first issue in the last story arc of season 1, titled "The Book of Mothman", it comes out September 4th. This issue also marks Tristan "T-Rex" Jones' first issue as artist with the series. I really enjoy Tristan's art style; he brings a sense of grittiness which fits perfectly in this book.

Do you miss the television series Fringe? Want to read something different in comics? Hoax Hunters is it. It brings together everything you've come to love in a mystery and horror book combines it with a sci-fi element that will have you believing these myths, hoaxes, and legends could be real.
